Training for Trainers Held in Plandište

As part of the project “Promoting Evidence-Based Migration Governance to Maximize the Development Potential of Migration,” a training for trainers on the topic of “Migration and Diaspora” was held at the Migration Training Centre in Plandiste. The training was organized by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The goal of the training was to enhance the knowledge and capacities of state institutions and other stakeholders involved in migration management, with a special focus on diaspora engagement and leveraging its development potential. Participants included employees from the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, the Office of the Minister without Portfolio in Charge of Diaspora Relations, the National Employment Service, local governments, and civil society organizations.

Following this training, the newly trained trainers will continue to educate their colleagues, thereby expanding the network of stakeholders familiar with this important topic.

The project “Promoting Evidence-Based Migration Governance to Maximize the Development Potential of Migration” is funded by the UN Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) and is implemented by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), UNICEF, UNHCR, and UNDP.

As part of the project, 12 new training curricula will be developed for civil servants, local government employees, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, aiming to strengthen capacities for policy development and implementation in migration management. In the upcoming period, over 60 training sessions are planned, with an estimated 1,000 participants.
